Spring Season Overview

Spring Recreational Cheer follows DSYSA's Flag Football Program with the affiliation of Neighborhood Sports. The spring season games are played under the stadium lights at Sycamore Springs Middle School Stadium on Friday Nights! It is a fun season on the sidelines cheering to the stands. The Spring Season generally begins mid March and runs through May. These dates depend on spring break's timing. It is a seven week season with 6 regular games and a tournament. This Spring the tournament play will fall on a Thursday and a Friday. 

Practice days, times, and locations are determined by the Head Coach. They are outdoors and can be held at Founder's Park, or the Belterra Rec Center. 

Cheer depends on Flag Football for game times, locations, and field #s. Like with ANY youth sport, game times and field locations can change at any time. While that is not what anyone wants, there are times where changes must be made, and sometimes those are very last minute. Cheer is constantly in communication with the Flag Commissioners regarding season information. Anytime we get changes, we relay those to our coaches as quickly as possible.

Spring 2024 Rec Cheer Season Details

DSYSA’s Recreational Cheer program provides the athlete with basic fundamentals of cheerleading, to get exercise, gain new life skills, and most importantly, have fun. They will learn body placement, cheers, chants, and jumps and potentially some low stunts in a team setting. Cheer relies heavily on memorization and lots of spirit. DSYSA Cheer wants each athlete to leave the season with more confidence and a better understanding of a football game. These squads will participate in sideline cheerleading following flag football teams, or a time slot which is at the Coach's discretion. DSYSA Cheer is a completely volunteer run organization that relies on parents & adults to continue leading and improving the program. 

 

  • Ages 5-12 welcome
  • 6 week season; 5 games and 1 tournament day (only cheering at one game)
  • Practices are 1 time per week for 1-1.5 hours and will begin the week after spring break. Practice times and location are at the discretion of the Head Coach. This generally gets established a few weeks after registration closes. If for some reason the practice day & time does not work with your schedule, we can look at other teams practice times/locations and switch teams. 
  • Games will be held Fridays at a District football field (location TBD), time slots ranging from 5:30PM - 8:30PM start times on every hour. 
  • Games will start  April 5th and run through May 17th
  • 1 Squad Tumbling class included, date is TBA.
  • Spring Cheer Clinic, LATE FEBRUARY,  TBA.
  • Stunt Clinic: 2nd grade and up TBA
  • SPRING UNIFORM will be the same as Fall 2023! Shell, Skirt with built in bloomers
  • Other Registration Fees include clinic (site rental and instruction), tumbling class, trophies, small supplies (team signs, first aid kids, coach shirts, etc.), volunteer fees, umbrella board fees, and player insurance for the cheer program. 
  •  Plan to attend Uniform Fitting January 31, HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED!  Please plan to attend the fitting below, you can drop in at anytime throughout the two hour time slot for a quick try-on so we can record your cheerleader's sizes. 
    • Jan 31st - 5:00 - 7:00 PM @ Belterra Rec Center
    • Please wear a leotard or bathing suit to the fitting to help with sizing
    • IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND A FITTING, YOU WILL NEED TO FILL OUT A UNIFORM MEASUREMENT SHEET, AND YOUR CHEERLEADER'S UNIFORM SIZE WILL BE BASED OFF THIS MEASUREMENT SHEET.  

** Shoes are not included with your registration, and will need to be purchased separately. More Information to come from your Head Coach once teams are formed** (Some Head Coaches require a specific shoe from Academy or Dicks, and some Head Coaches are ok with just an all white shoe. Please wait for direction from your Head Coach in a welcome email.)

 

Spring RECREATIONAL CHEER COSTS

Our spring uniform will be the same as Fall 2023. Yes, you will need to get the entire spirit pack again, even if you have purchased before. The spirit shirt is different each season,  and you would be surprised at how many bows and pom-poms come up missing each season. For these reasons, we will order a new pair for each cheerleader for a refresh! There are two additional add-on items not included with registration at an additional cost. Shoes are not available for purchase at all through DSYSA. You will receive direction from your Head Coach at the beginning of the season for direction on shoes. 

 

Items INCLUDED in your registration: 

  • 24 SPRING REGISTRATION FEE = $65
    • This is for all spring athletes. 
    • This includes clinic (site rental and instruction), tumbling class, trophies, small supplies (team signs, first aid kids, coach shirts, etc.), volunteer fees, umbrella board fees, and player insurance for the cheer program. 

 

  • 24 SPRING REC CHEER UNIFORM  $174
    • Uniform Includes: ​​​​​
      • Shell
      • Skirt with built in bloomers
  • 24 SPRING REC SPIRIT PACK= $48 (required for all)
    • Spirit pack includes:
      • Game Day Bow
      • Pom-Poms (refresh)
      • Season Spirit Shirt (different each season)

Cost for cheerleader needed a uniform: $287

Cost for cheerleader not needing a uniform: $113

**Please note that shoes are not included in the uniform fee. If you are purchasing a new uniform or reusing a uniform, shoes will be an additional cost and info will be provided by the head coach on what to purchase so the entire team is wearing the same shoe.  

 

OPTIONAL Items NOT INCLUDED in your registration, yet HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:

  • These are add-on items at an additional cost to your registration. These items are highly recommended but not required. We will not be able to add on or order any Jackets or Bags after our bulk orders are placed. All monogrammed names will include the first name and last initial filled out during registration.
  • Maroon Duffle Bag with gold monogrammed name on the side = $32.00
  • Black Hooded Zip up Jacket with DS Tiger paw on front right chest, and name on the left front chest = $30.00

Spring 2024 Refund Policy

  • Prior to January 31 - Full Refund.
  • After Feb 1; no refunds will be issued with the exception of medical conditions preventing play. Refund requests must be accompanied by doctor’s note and are subject to board approval.
